COGNAC & ARMAGNAC

Armagnac was one of the first areas in France to begin distilling spirits, but the overall volume of production is far smaller than Cognac production due to its geographical advantageous location beside the Atlantic coast and therefore Armagnac is less known outside Europe. In addition, Armagnac for the most part was made and sold by small producers, mostly family owned distillers, whereas Cognac production is dominated by big-name brands.

TEQUILA

Tequila was first produced in the 16th century near the location of the city of Tequila, which was not officially established until 1666. The Aztec people had previously made a fermented beverage from the agave plant, long before the Spanish arrived in 1521. When the Spanish conquistadors ran out of their own brandy, they began to distill agave to produce one of North America's first indigenous distilled spirits. Mexican laws state that tequila can only be produced in the state of Jalisco.
